Oh I can't wait

For the dwarfs to grow up, move out, get good jobs and have a home of their own.

I mean I can wait but I can't wait to:
Brush my teeth and wipe my toothpaste mouth on the hand towel because by then maybe they will learn to use water to clean face and a towel is to dry. Ha

Or get out of the shower and leave water all over the floor. Yeah I can't wait till its not me cleaning this up.

Not rinsing the dishes before putting in the dishwasher? Oh I get giddy just thinking about it :-)

Those will be the days!!

One of *those* moms/mam/mum's ect...

I am an ex-smoker as I don't smoke 20 a day anymore because it stinks and the cost is insane oh and I should say its bad for your health too!  I occasionally partake in a smoke or two when drinking or when I feel like it because I am an adult *stomping foot on the ground* and I will do what I want!

Sorry I got carried away there... back to my point, yes I did have one.

So I no longer smoke and I am thankful for that because I see SO many smokers who light up right outside the grocery store or while pushing their strollers/buggy's/prams down the street and it is hanging out of their mouth - YUCK.

I saw today a mom/mum/mam in a ONSIE with a smoke hanging out of her mouth while/whilst pushing a baby in a stroller/buggy/pram and walking her toddler to school.  I thought, "good god if you could see what trash you look like right now."

I am not saying this is a British thing but the British do walk around more then the Americans because here you walk your kid to school because it is close enough.

Its still gross as people don't realise/realize how nasty this looks and stinks.  Gosh I used to smell like that ALL the time *sigh*  glad I don't anymore.

Renovations.

I am not sure how a married couple makes it thru a renovation. I am ready to stay how it is just so there are no more bullshit statements. Amazing how insensitive a man can be. I bust my ass painting and he comments how it isn't done... Goes on to tell the dwarfs that it looked before I painted. Well guess what buddy boy you just won the deal of painting.
So learn to be positive or negative things will happen. Just like now because I am not an employee...
Yes this is a bitch blog but also a reality check because if you want to live here with us then the negativity must end. Hire someone to do it just to keep is sane.
This is my opinion, take it or leave it.

Mother's Day UK

I had written this whole post how Mother's Day was going to basically suck....

I didn't think I would feel the love or even really be acknowledged even to the furbaby but low and behold my PC did good!

I got a card and caramel treats plus the dwarfs got me a few cards too.  They were very sweet cards and not just the basic cheap ones.

We had a wonderful lunch and a few laughs.

I actually liked Mother's Day this year.

I love being surprised

YAY or Oh No....It's Snow

Well it depends who you are and what day it is right?

Child: Look it's snowing!!!
Parents on a 1st cancelled school day: Oh Yay - Fun!

Child: Look it's snowing!!!
Parents on a 2nd cancelled school day: Oh Yay - Fun *sarcasm*

Mom taking the dog out.
YAY it's snowing!!
*why yay? well the ground is hard and this means a clean dog....Well unless he rolls in fox shit and thinks he is the man!

Adult: Oh YAY SNOW!
Adult driving: God Damn snow and no one knows how to drive!

Adult home warm looking out the window: Oh Yay Snow!
Adult walking on side walks or the English term "path": Damn councils didn't grit/salt anything and I am going to fall on my ass/arse.

So I guess my point is some may always see a different side.  Me? I love the snow as long as: I don't walk on the sidwalks, drive near idiots, have to clean up wet messes or freeze to death!

Happy Holidays!

OMG

How the hell do kids have blackberrys and new iPhones?

What parent will spend hundreds of pounds on a kids phone?

I am jealous! I can't afford to spend 500quid or even 300quid on a iPhone 4 or 5!

What message do you think it sends to spend that on a kid for no reason? If it was a Christmas present, that would be all I got! No jokes.

Comments? Parents who spend a mini fortune?

Perfect Parenting

Ok I will wait while you get off the floor laughing.

You mean to tell me there isn't a perfect parent out there? No way!  I have seen so many who know it all, so that can't be true.

I know mom is obviously always right and knows best right? Well hon sometimes dad is right too, just because they are a man they can still be right.

So please if you have the perfect parent handbook I would love to read it, hell might get it published and I will share the profits with ya ;-)

Awww suck it

Is what I feel like saying sometimes.  I do always try to see the positive things of most things but there are these details that crawl under my skin and I can't shake them - EVER!
Being an educated expat wife, mom, stepmom and friend is stupid hard but we just plow on and smoosh a smile on our face.
I am educated yet I can't find a job so I feel as if I am sponging of PC and I always feel bad spending "his" money.  Yes I know its "our" money and he doesn't say don't but I have never lost this sense of independence.
I don't have the same friend circle even after all these years here which kinda sucks too.
I have gained weight and feel miserable but don't have the money to spend on a gym because at this point I think this is what I need.
Am I a good wife? I hope so even with my snotty moments I am sure he loves me to pieces.
Mom/Stepmom? I say hell yes I am as our life revolves around their health and happiness.  Sometimes I still don't feel good enough.  I am sure this is my own hang up but it is what it is - right?

Thank goodness I drive and have that freedom or I might have killed someone by now!

The Oompa Loompa look

Ladies and Girls - notice the oompa loompa look is NOT flattering or attractive.
Please step away from the orange tinted make up - NO ONE needs orange on their face - trust me.
Ask any man not a 12 year old boy.

While we are at it what is up with faces you guys are posing with in pictures?
The below are NOT attractive either - try smiling - I know crazy idea.

When has this made anyone look attractive? <- go on click to see how "attractive it all looks"

All teenagers should read an relate to these: http://teenagerposts.tumblr.com/http://teenagerposts.tumblr.com/

Just remember all photos taken will be able to be pulled back out for big graduations, weddings, christening ect... How would you feel if you were pursing your lips, hand like a gun on your chin, orange face and massive amount of eyebrows or no eyebrows like above? HA

Trust me I see some old photos and go," good god why did I ever do that."  I know everyone goes thru it but think - do I look attractive to anyone? If you are doing it for fun - then LIVE IT UP just don't go out like that lol

Furbaby

I don't have my own biological kids and most likely never will so I have a fur baby.  He is my fur child so get over it.  I will post pictures of what we do and accomplishments he completes because for me, he is my fur baby.  It makes me happy - full stop.  I love seeing pictures of puppies and a planning play dates and going places just like you would with your kids.  We do go places with my step dwarfs but now I feel apart of something that is mine and that is my puppy.
I may be a geek.  I am sad.  I may be a loser but I am loved and something that is only 40 pounds makes me stupid happy and I don't want to apologise for it.
I am that person who posts pictures of my dog - ignore it if it bugs you ;-)

This isn't a mean post by any means but understand he is like my child.  He gets feed 3X a day, I hire puppy sitters, get play dates and we have days out.  He just listens better then some kids HA well sometimes ;-)

Ya know that saying? Love me, Love my dog....Never been a truer statement.

Babies R U

Seriously they are everywhere...Yes I am jealous, I admit it.  At work I see pregnant women everywhere - seriously, everywhere.  I see all the cute prams/strollers and little kids on leashes (ha).  Munchkins in little tom's so excited to be walking and it is adorable.

It seems everyone got knocked up at the same time last year.  I see some people WAY old that are pregnant (I am talking gray hair now).  I flip and flop now on whether I want to cross that bridge.  Some days I can't imagine my life without our own child and then others I am like screw it, we can be selfish!  I kinda like our life and having the freedom that comes with having older dwarfs so I dont know if I want to give that up.

Oh plus I am no spring chicken anymore. I don't know if we are both ready to be those "old" parents.  Our dwarf now talks how so and so parents are preggo and they are like "old" and it will be weird.  YES these are people our age...Sooooo until I wrap my head around this I guess we just go on and get older haha

Meantime I can still be jealous of all the new mommies out there and you can't stop me ;-)

Question? No I mean statement

I lay in bed or drive and think of fabulous stuff to say and even send myself little email tidbits - can I remember anything I wanted to say? No.

So many differences but so many cool things as well when you are in a different country it's hard to remember they are different after they happen.

Awwww - I do think my favourite thing I have noticed is this.

When someone (usually a parent) asks a child something it is always a form of a question but really shouldn't be.

Example:
Parent: You want to eat your brussels sprouts...
Child : they are gross - no
Parent: that wasn't a question or a request

Me: umm yes it was

Now that I have pointed this out to my Prince Charming and dwarfs they see it EVERYWHERE! It's becoming funny.

My other favourite example:

Parent: Do you want to go to bed now?
Child: no
Parent: well its time for bed

Me: haha you asked them silly - don't ask. TELL

Oh the fun of picking up small things like this and even better when they say it and realise they asked a "question" again and fix it and then laugh!

Life can be funny.

You can be/do anything if you put your mind to it...

Should be the line every freaking parent adult uses with kids. Full Stop.

I am so annoyed at how parents can hold a child back whether they know it or not (I have a sneaky feeling they do know - they cant be upstaged).  Kids are the future so encourage them - make them better people!

I whole heartily think kids need social interaction like clubs and sports.  Why?
1. It builds self confidence/self esteem
2. They make friends, some of them may be life long
3. Joining the community and helping out the community
4. "Belongs" to something
5. Weekly fun! <--so important
6. Teaches discipline - you signed up and you go even if you don't want too - commitment!
*parents must commit as well because their laziness should not affect the kids
7. Keeps them fit - physically and mentally!

I feel you should encourage your kids and all kids to be the best they can be.  Let them join things and go places BUT the parent has to encourage them.  If the parent or adult becomes lazy and the kids thinks it is a burden on the adult then the children can feel bad and not go because they don't want to inconvenience the adult - bullshit.

Kids read adults quickly. If they crave love like all children do and mommy or daddy promises them McDonald's or 'something fun" with that parent they will take it over anything.  If you are sitting on the couch cuddling with your child and they are feeling the love and you say, 'Ok honey do you want to go to XYZ?' they will look to you, to see what you think? Most kids will say its ok mommy/daddy we can stay right here.
This is where YOU as a parent need to quit being lazy and say, "right lets go to XYZ and when you get back we will have another cuddle."

ENCOURAGEMENT - repeat after me.

I feel so strongly about this because the parent/adult sets the example and the discipline.  If they sign up for something TAKE THEM - don't ask because that is always a way out.  Now I am not saying be crazy when they are ill make them get up and go.  When I say ill I mean throwing up not just tired.

Remember kids are adults in training.  You show them the way.  Kids should learn to thrive, be independent and self confident to be something magnificent in this world and I will do my part to every child I meet.
Parents/Adults - you shouldn't compete with your kids...If you can't dance or sing but your kids can help them shine not hold them back because they would do better then you.
As a parent - I always want my kids to be better then I could EVER be.  Maybe we need more of these types of adults in the world.

Type Right - please!

I am no grammar expert and I admit that completely but I do think adding all the letters in a sentence is important after you reach a certain age and using spaces and so should you.

Ok so teenagers (some adults too) use slang and abbreviations like:
1. 2mro for tomorrow
2. g8 for great
3. cya for See Ya

I get that you're a teenager and slang is quick to type when texting but for the love of god businesses and adults should not do this daily.  I also will agree that US and UK teenagers ALL text or speak in slang but my main pet peeve is adults and businesses using this "language".  I have never seen an American business use slang on FB like I see UK businesses use daily!
Let's also have a quick recap on proper use of grammar (for you as much as me).

It's is a contraction for "it is". Its is like "his", "hers" or "theirs" and can be loosely translated as "belonging to it". When trying to decide which to use, just remember this: it's is the same as "it is". Only use it's when you are trying to abbreviate it is. In all other cases, use its (without the apostrophe).

People often confuse and misuse the words your and you're. The difference between your and you're is that you're is a contraction of "you are" whereas your means belonging to you.

There is a difference between Their and They're. While "their" means belonging to them, they're is a contraction which stands for "they are".

The words there and their are different. Even though they sound alike (they are homophones), the words have different meanings. A good way to remember the difference between there and their is the mnemonic device The place "here" with a T is "there". While "there" refers to that place, "their" means belonging to them. For example, Their van was destroyed in the accident

Than is used for comparison and Then is used in most other cases, especially when used in the context of time or the order in which events occur.

Also when you want to write "have" it has 4 letters, it isn't "av"...I don't speak in short speak.  We don't allow our dwarfs to text us short terms or we ask what they are saying because it makes them look dumb.  I agree with using some short terms such as R U home yet? because it is one letter but some of the time it is ridiculous.

Here is a clip of a local business (which I love) but this made me cringe.
Ladies we have had a last minute date change for a party 2mro (saturday) so we now have 10 spa day places to fill.Rebecca has already done the shopping for that lovely 3 course lunch!

Spaces? nahhh Commas? nahhh
There was more but I didn't want to hog down this post.

I guess my point is this: Type like an educated person or at least someone who finished 5th grade.  I am not the grammar queen but by gosh I try because I don't want to look like a right yank. ;-)

Life as a Teenager

oh my it's tough

Top things said:
1. You never let me do anything
2. You are sooooo over protective
3. Give me X amount of money
4. I DID clean my room
5. I always stay up late GOSH I am just not tired

Life is so darn tough isn't it? Let's see everything is bought for you including clothes, bikes, shoes, sports equipment and mom's are like taxi's? And you have it tough?

Buck up little dwarf because you haven't seen anything yet....Life is tough.

S&M and our kids?

Call me a prude, call me old fashioned but O.M.G the lyrics of some of these songs are disgusting that our dwarfs are singing.  Now, I like these songs but I am an adult BUT as a dwarf I loved 2 Live Crew so I know nasty lyrics and I loved every single one of them as well as Easy E.  Still it's more shocking when you hear your own dwarfs trying to get the lyrics right not just sing it and the words that come out of their mouth.
It's pop music and we listen to the same as the dwarfs but my parents never listened to the stuff I did as a child so they never heard me sing the lyrics.

There was a brilliant show here in the UK called The Sex Education Show and the 2nd installment was about not pimping out our kids.  High heels for kids? Get out! Music video and songs on before 9pm when kids are home from school? Seriously it was like selling sex.  I mean I love a good dance song but I have to sit back and think do I want my dwarf singing this lyric:

Rihanna - S&M
Cause I may be bad
But I’m perfectly good at it
Sex in the air
I don’t care
I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones
May break my bones
But chains and whips
Excite me

The youngest dwarf practiced getting this lyric right - chains and whips excite me.  Our jaws dropped.  I am sure she has no idea what this exactly means but is it right to have young dwarfs exposed to this?  In the US Tipper Gore brought forward Parental Advisory Labels for CD's that where considered adult content and the radio version were blurbed out.  Its not the word shit I have a problem with, its the act of sex and sexual activity.  As a world our dwarfs are getting pregnant at such early ages and I am not dumb enough to blame music but kids shouldn't know what whips and chains are until they are MUCH older.

With artists always pushing the envelope, how can we speak out to stop selling it to our dwarfs.  Dwarfs at age 12 don't need high heels, mascara, brightly coloured eye shadow, lipstick or some hoochie mama clothes.  Clothes is a whole other issue but store keep selling things I find HIGHLY inappropriate for anyone under the age of 18 - ripped leggings? (sorry thats a new topic for another day)

What songs do you think are inappropriate for kids?
How do you handle these type of songs with your kids?

Mothering Sunday

Well yesterday was Mothering Sunday here in the UK to celebrate motherhood and well since I am not a "mother" I didn't have any celebration.  Adverts were everywhere about Mothering Sunday and how much they do for you ect... I am not saying mother's don't deserve some credit but I do think stepmother's play a huge role as well if they are a good step mom.  I am there when they are upset, cry, spill stuff, give advice, wash dirty clothes and whatever else is needed.  I guess sometimes I feel like a glorified babysitter *shrug* it came with the gig.  I love my dwarfs and try to treat them as my own or how I would treat my own to be fair and have them grow up strong.   I feel like an outsider to this family and I am not privy too certain things as it is a fine line between a friend/step parents and respecting the mothers feelings even if I don't agree with everything she does and says I must still bite my tongue.

I would love to get along with the Mom and be on the same side for the sake of the dwarfs since I know I play a vital part in her kids life therefor we should be friends to say the least.  I think the dwarfs in all 2 party families should be allowed to love and acknowledge their stepparents if they so choose.  Culture is what dictates this because if it isn't shown in card shops or spoken about the dwarfs don't know - they need to be taught.

I did search to see if there was a Stepmother's day and in the US there is a national holiday the Sunday after the US Mother's day in May.  How cool is that? Had I ever really seen it? No...Had I ever really looked? No...
I have stepparents and I treat them like my regular parents and they get a card on the main holiday as they are that important to me in my life.  I do believe the US is different on that accord since I embrace my stepparents because they are there for me and have made my life better ok maybe not the first step mom as she was a crazy lunatic bitch (pardon my french).

Maybe one day stepparents will be acknowledged regularly for the role they play in someone else's children's lives. I don't see mine as a stepparents even though they came into my life as I was older but they are straight up part of my nuclear family, no doubts on that front.  I can only hope I can put this impression on the dwarfs since these are their step grandparents!

Until the day when I wake up as a woman who pushed a child out on my own, I will embrace being a step mom since I do love those dwarfs and the man who helped make them.

Mornings and Towels

Do you ever wake up and go what friggin day is it? What did I have to do? Where was I suppose to be?
Crap it's Monday not Friday
Welcome to my head *taking a bow*

I swear, almost everyday I wake up and have to think hard to remember what the day is because lately I feel as if I don't know whether I am coming or going. Let's remember I have a hard time sleeping so that doesn't help because there are days I am sleep deprived. There are nights I am not falling asleep till 330am and waking up at 730am and going all day long *sigh*
It isn't very often but this is why I wake up and think, "Crap what day is it?"

*warning: this will veer off to another small rant*

I do what I believe most human beings to when they wake up...I head to the bathroom and hit the toilet and then wash my hands. As I lean to grab the hand towel I cringe there is toothpaste all over the hand towel.
Ok I am pretty sure I was raised you use water to rinse off your mouth before drying it on the hand towel?
The purpose of the hand towel is to DRY your clean hands...so if there is toothpaste on it, it is no longer clean is it?
I will stand up and admit I am a sheet and towel snob and you will just have to bite your tongue if you don't agree because you won't change my mind.

The hand towels we have are not the crap tea towel or massive bath towels laying over a heater to dry your hands, they are proper hand towels and fluffy.
Towels are so important in a bathroom. As you finish a nice long hot shower you want a fluffy towel to encase you. You want a soft hand towel to dry your hands not scratch them off. You want a wash cloth that doesn't scrape your face off but lathers the soap.
Yes I like towels *nodnod*

So when I wake up thinking what friggin day is it and then I see toothpaste on the hand towel ya know what day it is?
Laundry day! Those poor towels are taking a beating since every single time I see toothpaste I wash them.

Side secret I started having my own hand towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door so I will have my own clean towel, ya know just to save the environment and I wont do so much laundry ;-)

This is why I need my own bathroom, no ifs, ands or butts about it.

I need a holiday soon!
