Grocery Store

Amazing how living in another country shapes your grocery shopping....
or maybe I just changed the way I shop?

We cut out the centre of the store for most part and I buy pre-sliced fruit like apples.  I realise I will eat them if they are pre-sliced because yes I am lazy.  5 bags of sliced apples are 2 quid or something well a bag of baby apples I have to work to eat are more then that so yeah I can make my way work in my head.

Also I never looked at eggs, I just grabbed and went.  Well one of the dwarfs learned about free range and explained it so all we buy is free range now.  Also we sign things to allow ducks access to full body of water so they have a nice live before they die for others to eat but it is the nice thing to do.  We don't buy duck anyway but I think all things should have a human life.

We hit the world food isle just to see if they added any American crap we don't need but when I see it, I will crave it and must buy it.  This happens a lot and then it is usually a let down because 1. it isn't the same and 2. typically it is not made with the same ingredients.

So when I crave something I buy it at stupid high prices but hey thats the price of living in another country and you suck it up.  Well at least Prince Charming understands and even has come to love ranch HA!  I can't remember the last time I made it though because I forget since my eating has improved.

I don't have a point here so happy shopping!

NHS Dentist Rant

Ok I know everyone makes jokes about the British and their teeth and I understand why now since the dentists need to stop being assholes.

There are three NHS charge bands.
  • Band 1: £17.50 includes an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes X-rays, a scale and polish and planning for further treatment.
  • Band 2: £48 includes all treatment covered by Band 1, plus additional treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment and removing teeth (extractions).
  • Band 3: £209 includes all treatment covered by Bands 1 and 2, plus more complex procedures, such as crowns, dentures and bridges.
Ok so you can go to the dentist 1X a year on the NHS and below are the bands. So band 1 is what you  are going on to have them check your teeth really since the other stuff is if necessary. WTF?

The first time I went to the dentist here he literally touched my teeth (no tool) and said yeah you look good. Ummmm you have NEVER seen me, don't know my history and didn't take x-rays as a new patient? STRIKE !

The next year I went and requested a cleaning when I booked my appointment and I had to ASK the dentist to clean my teeth and he did just the front 4.  STRIKE!
At least he took x-rays because he said let's take some x-rays as we haven't done it in awhile. I said how about you never have. HA STRIKE!

So this year I called up and said I would like to schedule a check-up and cleaning.I was told we don't do cleaning unless the dentist thinks it is needed.  I said I will pay for it. You will have to see the dentist first. WTF

SO I cancelled my appointment and I am going to a private dentist to have ALL my teeth cleaned and pay for it which I am happy to do.

I have white decent teeth and I put this all to 2X a year cleaning, flossing and brushing my own teeth oh and having fluoride in our water growing up.  Here they don't but don't do fluoride treatments unless needed. Again WTF

This shit annoys me because preventive dentist treatment is always better then waiting for it to get so bad you need work done.

I feel like I have to not floss and get my teeth shitty to hope they will clean them.  Unlike in the states you flossed like crazy so you dentist wouldn't yell at you for not taking care of your teeth.

Come on England dentists pull your thumb out!

Just another rant

The House Hunt

Well I have been house hunting for years but just recently it seems that Prince Charming has got on board for real, real!

We live in a matchbox - seriously. I have never lived someone so small but its an experience right?

So I have this list called, "All I want" because PC always says, "Oh its all you want but what about xyz."  HA so yes it became a list.

We have a looked at a few houses but the last one I said oh perfect this lil freaking room could become the master bathroom aka en suite. He said why there is a bathroom right here? UMMMM Do you hear me? This was my very first ALL I WANT - I want/need my own bathroom.  I don't like sharing towels or bathroom stuff. I want to keep my make up and stuff in the bathroom NOT on the dresser in the bedroom.
Please god get me a shaver plug too (110v) so I can plug in my toothbrush in the bathroom not the kitchen once a week!

Sorry I got carried away....

PC says thats nuts so I say then lets move on because I dont want this house if I cant have my own bathroom.  Deal breaker? I was like Yep.

So if it happens I *will* get my bathroom and the plans in my head include a walk in closet too since it is a small room to make into shower room and closet LOL

Give me an inch and I will take a mile when it comes to "all I want".

1852 Pioneer Times

My husband said something the other day that was pure crazy and I almost enquired about having him committed to a mental institute but I found out in the UK a spouse can't check another spouse in against their will *damn*.

Our power has decided to cut out every once in awhile especially when I use the dryer.  So  he says,
" Why don't you NOT use the dryer?"
after I got up from fainting I went on to explain that I know England can feel like 1852 pioneer times but I am a 21st century girl and I want to move forward.

Not using a dryer to me is like having separate taps or your washing machine in your kitchen or having form size fridges - oh wait we do.  There is only so far I can go with this living in pioneer times and not using a dryer isn't one of them.  I can't imagine with a puppy and children having wet towels hanging about and underwear on the radiators (that really aren't one right now).  OMG I see me re-doing laundry a lot with crap on the clean clothes.  Oh hang them outside? Duh hey didn't I think of that. Oh I did but I have a puppy who likes to jump up and pull it off and around the patio and on his pee.  I say no thanks.

So yeah let's skip the pioneer times - for pete's sake I have DSL!!!

So women of the 21st century I don't want a lecture on how I am hurting the environment by using a dryer because honestly it makes me happy ;-)

Bath anyone?

Oh man some days or nights I just feel like taking a nice soak - it is rare but it does happen.

Doing this activity here sucks - full stop.  I really need a real bath/faucets and water pressure - please ;-)

I ran a bath via the 2 separate faucets and I timed it - it took 18 minutes to get the bath high enough to get in!  If I put the hot water on any higher it would go cold.  FFS

Some days its like living in the pioneer days either that or man a lot of people are posh in the US. I don't know anyone without a dishwasher/washer/dryer so why the heck do people see this as a luxury here?

En suite? this is standard even in apartments in the states why is it such a luxury here?  Everything is a family bathroom and guess what I don't want to share with my family lol

A woman can only share so much of her space before she loses the plot.

Am I in bitch mode? Yes  I am getting claustrophobic in this tiny house. I dream of my old walk in closet, own bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, separate shower, big ass king bed and SPACE.  My old laundry room and large enough kitchen to sit a table with 8 chairs and a normal US size fridge.

someday peeps someday
